DANCE TOGETHER FOR PARENTS/GUARDIAN & TODDLER

SATURDAYS, OCTOBER 2-NOVEMBER 20, 2021

Parent/Guardian and Toddlers

Ages 2-4

Instructor:  Andrea Rios

Through a sampler of ways of moving, singing, and playing together, the parents/guardians and their children will work towards a trustful, non-hierarchical and non-verbal communication channel. Children and Parents will put in practice and develop their motor skills while being offered opportunities to become aware of rhythms, body weight, balance, and more.

Supplies: Masks required inside SCC building.  Comfortable clothing or dancewear.  Dance shoes, ballet slippers or barefoot.  Please no socks (grippy kind ok) or tights as the floor can be slippery.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT, DANCE & RHYTHM

Sonoma Community Center Dance - Studio/Room 213

Ages: late 4 - 6

Instructor:  Miss Molly (Spencer) & Andrea Rios

This class is designed as a young child’s first independent movement class. Instruction will include warm-ups exercises, basic elements of dance positions, across the floor movement, and a creative dance through the use of stories and props. Bilingual Songs and dance forms from around the world are also incorporated into this class.

Benefits include listening skills and concentration, increased coordination, and an understanding of movement, i.e. time, space, directions and balance, social skills and development of creativity.

Supplies: Masks required inside SCC building.  Dance shoes, ballet slippers or barefoot. Please no socks (grippy kind ok) or tights as the floor can be slippery.  Comfortable clothing or dancewear such as leotards, skirts, skirted leotards and tights (with shoes).  Dance shoes, ballet slippers or barefoot.  Please no tutus in class.  Hair pulled off of face.

DANCE SAMPLER FOR KIDS

SATURDAYS, OCTOBER 2-NOVEMBER 20, 2021

Sonoma Community Center Dance - Studio/Room 213

Ages: late 6 - 10 

Instructors:  Miss Molly (Spencer) & Andrea Rios

A mixed  level class open to students who are interested in many styles of dance. A combination of ballet basics, jazz, hip hop, contemporary  modern and other world dance forms in latin and african rhythms will be incorporated to help give children a foundation for dance training and appreciation. Exercises will be modified or enhanced to the individual’s level. Class will be conducted in a positive and attentive environment and is designed to develop memorization, flexibility, and musicality. This class will help the student gain coordination  and confidence to take into their daily lives. Small performing opportunities based upon a child’s interest but is not mandatory.

Supplies: Masks required inside SCC building.  Comfortable clothing or dance wear.  Dance shoes, ballet slippers or barefoot.  Please no socks (grippy kind ok) or tights as the floor can be slippery.
